Legendary Bruins defenseman Ray Bourque's 1987-88 game-worn jersey is probably the last #7 captain's jersey he wore before relinquishing the number for Phil Esposito's jersey retirement ceremony. Ray shared the Bruins' captaincy with Rick Middleton and wore the C for road games that season. He wore #7 until December 3, 1987 when he memorably pulled off his white jersey and handed it to Esposito while revealing his new number 77 jersey to the Boston Garden faithful. This fantastic Bourque game-worn captain's jersey has great game wear that includes a few team repairs, including a 4-inch diagonal white thread sewing fix on the right rear tail, another team repair above that, and a repair on the left front that has mostly let go. Tagging was removed from the neck so this gamer measures out to a size 50. There are marks and scuffs on the Hub crest and C on the front and the numbers on the back and both sleeves. The collar is torn on the right rear and the front seam has partially let go. Red paint transfer shows on both sleeves as well as on the team crest on the front and number 7 on the back with black marks on the tails and sleeves. A beauty of a Bourque gamer from a season that saw the Bruins reach the Stanley Cup final!
