Awe-inspiring 1969-70 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup championship trophy conjures up magical memories of Bobby Orr's legendary goal. Originally obtained from the personal collection of Don Awrey, this is the trophy that was presented back in the day to the bruising Bruins defenceman, who was often partnered with Orr. Awrey and the Big, Bad Bruins roared through the playoffs in the spring of 1970. Beginning with a six-game series win over the Rangers in the quarter-finals, the Bruins then swept Chicago in the semis before cruising to three lopsided wins over St. Louis in the final. The Blues put up a fight to send Game 4 to overtime, setting the stage for Orr, who flew through the air in celebration after he scored 40 seconds in to secure Boston's first Cup in 29 years. Standing 12 7/8" tall, this silver plate treasure had the elegant patina it has acquired throughout cleaned off the front of the barrel to display the elegant hand-stamped engraving, with "Boston Bruins, 1969-70" across the top above the names of Awrey and HOFers Orr, Esposito, Bucyk, Cheevers, GM Milt Schmidt and coach Harry Sinden, as well as the stellar supporting cast including the likes of Sanderson, Hodge, Cashman, Westfall, McKenzie, Stanfield, Carleton, Dallas Smith and Rick Smith. Manufacturer "Petersen" and "EPOC" are stamped on the back side of the bottom of the barrel. Missing are the three tiny tails that fasten the trophy to the original round black wood base, which retains its green felt bottom underneath the base. Precious and historic 1970 Stanley Cup trophy is wonderfully preserved with a tiny nick and a very small ding on the top edge of the lip of the bowl.
