It took 42 years but the Detroit Red Wings , led by captain Steve Yzerman and such stalwarts as Brendan Shanahan, Igor Larionov, and Sergei Fedorov, with the legendary Scotty Bowman behind the bench, finally hoisted the Stanley Cup in the spring of 1997, taking out the Philadelphia Flyers in four games. Offered is a precious Stanley Cup ring from this championship season, presented to a Wings scout named Eaves, and what a beautiful ring it is, made of 14K gold and weighing about 50 grams, with the Wings logo on the tableau of the ring embedded in real diamonds, encircled by the words "Stanley Cup Champions". One shank shows the NHL shield with crossed sticks and a puck, with "Detroit" above, and with "Red" and "Wings" flanking the sides. The opposite shank shows the Stanley Cup flanked by "1997", with "Eaves" above the Cup. This incredibly beautiful Stanley Cup ring is a size 11, and engraved on the inside is "14K". It's in excellent condition exhibiting only slight wear, with a spot of black missing from beside the Stanley Cup on one shank, along with very faint and slight nicks in the edges. Comes in a tasteful custom-made wooden presentation box measuring 4 1/2 x 6 x 2 1/2 inches, with the Wings logo and "Detroit Red Wings, 1996-1997 Stanley Cup Champions" etched onto the wood lid. Just a stunning bauble from Detroit's historic 1996-97 championship season.
