Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Fantastic and near-complete set of 24 early-1970s Montreal Canadiens pinback buttons comes with an original point-of-purchase display card. Beliveau, Richard and Cournoyer are featured amid the 18 buttons from 1970-71 with "Made in Canada" printed on the bottom edge. The elusive Dick Duff button is here as are Redmond and coach Ruel with only Rochefort missing. The Mahovlich brothers, Dryden, Lafleur and Lapointe buttons from the following season have Made in Quebec printed in French. Pins include Duff, Backstrom, Beliveau, Vachon, Rousseau, Ruel, J.C. Tremblay, Harris, Redmond, Cournoyer, Worsley, Harper, Savard, Richard, Provost, Ferguson, Lemaire, Laperriere, Frank Mahovlich, Peter Mahovlich, Dryden, Lapointe and Lafleur, along with a red CH Les Canadiens pin.
The CH logo sits on the front of the 18 1/2" x 14” point-of-purchase stand-up display which exhibits handling in the form of creases and small tears with a piece missing from the middle of the top edge. The stand-up portion is no longer present on the back with only a cardboard rectangle remaining at the bottom. “Best in Sports” with the company’s Montreal address is stamped in red ink on the upper right corner of the plain brown cardboard reverse which has a water stain that does not affect the front.
