Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

A Jacques Plante game-used stick is a great find. One signed by the late goaltending legend is even better. So what can you say about a Plante gamer team-signed by himself and 20 other members of the 1957-58 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens? We'd say that the lucky winner of this amazing lot may have trouble describing their feelings too! "Plante" is stamped on the shaft of Jake the Snake's CCM Professional game-used goalie stick from the height of his Vezina Trophy run that coincided with the Habs' record streak of five straight Cup wins. Jacques, who died in 1986, kept this team-signed gamer with his original tape jobs on the knob and blade and gifted it to his goddaughter. Plante and Floyd Curry originally signed in green ink just above the handle and then they both signed over those autographs in black. Fellow deceased HOFers Blake, Maurice Richard, Geoffrion and Reardon have signed along with HOFers Henri Richard, Beliveau and Moore. All of the autographs are nicely legible with a few lightly faded examples on this solid treasure from the height of the Habs' dynasty and Plante's reign as the greatest goalie in the game. “1957-1958” is written on the paddle which has some loose strands of tape and had some tape removed at the top. Reardon and Goyette have signed at the top of the paddle. Moving upwards from there, the shaft is signed by Plante, Curry, Langlois, Turner, Broden, Talbot, Pronovost, Provost, Henri Richard, Geoffrion, Beliveau, Maurice Richard, Marshall, St-Laurent, Blake, Johnson, Moore and McNeil.
