A pair of Dennis Polonich's late-1970s and early-1980s NHL contracts with the Detroit Red Wings are featured in this collection of Polo's documents. Dennis and Ted Lindsay's original signatures appear several times, including on his two-year deal for the 1978-79 and 1979-80 seasons with the initialed NHL central registry date stamp, and two signed copies of his four-year deal from 1979-80 through 1982-83, including one with the NHL central registry stamp with a bonus addendum signed by both. Lot with more to discover comes with Dennis Polonich's signed LOA. Polo signed the original copy of his 1976 bonus addendum which is also signed by Alex Delvecchio. Polonich and Lindsay have each signed two 1979 bonus addendums.
Dennis has signed his copy of the 1980 documenting releasing him from his Red Wings contract;
The two-year contract calls for a salary of $70,000 for the 1978-79 season and a $75,000 salary for 1979-80, with an option year at $80,000 for 1980-81.
The four-year contract calls for salaries of $80,000 in 1979-80, $90,000 in 1980-81, $100,000 in 1981-82, and $110,000 in 1982-83, with an option year at $115,000 for 1983-84. The addendum attached to the copy stamped by NHL central registry and signed by both Polonich and Lindsay calls for bonuses for NHL individual awards and All-Star teams and team regular season and playoff performances.
Also included is Dennis’ handwritten and signed November 2000 letter to the NHL central registry requesting a copy of his first Red Wings NHL contract, with the photocopies he received back attached; a red folder contains a color photocopy of the NHL official score sheet with his first two goals for the Red Wings against Kansas City on Nov. 13, 1975 at the Olympia and various original correspondence including his 1973 letter from Red Wings head coach Ted Garvin, signed “Ted”, and documents involving Dennis’ contracts from his agent and the team.
