This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
Classic piece of American Hockey League championship jewelry is Ed Van Impe's 1962-63 Buffalo Bisons Calder Cup championship "Diamond Dial" wristwatch. The Bisons finished first overall during the regular season and went on to win their fourth Calder Cup title. This exquisite Bulova wristwatch is gold filled, as per the markings on the reverse, and features six real diamonds set on the face. "Edward Van Impe Buffalo Hockey Club" and "American League Champions 1962-63" are engraved on the back. Also included is a ceramic mug in Bisons' white, blue and red with "Buffalo Hockey Club 1961-1962" in gold-colored script along with the names of coach Billy Reay and the team's players and a set of 20 vintage 1962-63 Bisons 8 x 10 pictures. Comes with Ed Van Impe's signed LOA. “30 Jewels” and “Self Winding” are printed on the face of the watch, which is still in working order though it is unsure if it keeps accurate time.
Very light ceramic mug stands a shade over 5” tall with bright colors, sparkling gold-colored lettering, and just a few instances of crazing.
Bisons individual player photos include Van Impe and the likes of Reay, goalies Roger Crozier and Denis DeJordy, and Johnny Mackenzie, Gerry Melnyk, Doug Robinson, Brian Cullen, Aut Erickson, Billy Dea, Art Stratton, Larry Wilson, Cliff Schmautz, Barry Cullen, Ron Ingram, Eddy Kachur, Ian Cushenan and Brian Smith. The set comes with its original Buffalo Hockey Club envelope with “Van Impe” handwritten on it in ballpoint.
