Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
From a historic NHL season comes this miniature of a new trophy that accompanied the six expansion teams and awarded the Western Division winner of the regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers. Philly's 73 points, thanks to a 31-32-11 record, were one better than the L.A. Kings, with defenceman Ed Van Impe appearing in 67 games and leading the team with 141 penalty minutes. For their efforts, team members were presented with personal miniatures of the Clarence Campbell Bowl. Silver-plated handled cup with removable lid sits atop a six-sided 3-inch high wooden base and is engraved "Philadelphia Flyers - 1967-68 - Edward Van Impe" on one side, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the other. With a golden patina, along with tarnish and silver loss (mostly limited to the lid and handles), the terrific 10-1/2" high trophy is autographed on the bottom of the green felt-covered base by Ed Van Impe, who will also sign an LOA to join this special Flyers trophy.
