One of the greatest goal scorers in NHL history, Mike Bossy holds the record for the most consecutive 50-goal seasons with nine. The HOF right wing was a key part of the New York Islanders dynasty that won four straight Stanley Cups from 1980-83 and this amazing photo-matched Bossy Islanders game-worn jersey dates from that glorious era! Mike had his finest NHL season in 1981-82 with 64 goals and 147 points and the undated photo that provides the match to the jersey is most likely from that season. It shows the big black mark on the blue band on the right front tail, the two black dot marks on the right sleeve near the sewing line betweeen the blue and orange stripes, and a number of marks on the team crest. Screened Sandow SK logo sits inside the inversed rear hem, SK and laundry instruction flag tags remain in the neck and the fight strap loop is not cut out. Fabulous game use shows in team repairs on the bottom of the left sleeve, blue paint transfer on the left sleeve and right rear tail, black marks on the front and board burns on the sleeves, with an unrepaired burn hole on the right sleeve. An amazing Bossy gamer from the height of the Islanders dynasty! The photo used for the match shows that Bossy’s gloves are missing a piece of the 2 on the right glove, which shows in a photo from Stanley Cup finals in May 1982.
The photo-matched marks on the team crest include one that goes up diagonally from the bottom edge that crosses the bottom of the orange twill letter A, on through the top left of the orange N, and up to the white twill of the orange and white puck, with another diagonal mark on the right side of the crest from the bottom edge and through the second letter S at the end of the team name.
