Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The "GENO 71" patch sewn inside the back of these 2009-10 game-worn Pittsburgh Penguins makes it clear that they were used by Russian superstar Evgeni Malkin. After winning the Stanley Cup and adding the Art Ross and Conn Smythe to his trophy case the previous season, Malkin recorded 77 points in 67 games during the 2009-10 season. The Penguins' logo is embroidered onto the bottom right front pant leg, a Bauer logo is embroidered on the front left leg, and the NHL shield is embroidered on the bottom of the back of the right leg. All padding is intact and the Size "L+2"" tag is sewn in the back of the pants above the white fabric patch with "Geno 71" embroidered in black thread. Game wear shows nicely in board burns on the black fabric at the left hip and on the front thigh pads. The elasticized fabric below the front fly has an unrepaired hole where the stitching at the bottom of the gusset just above has torn and let go. Comes with an LOA.
