Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Appealing lot of WHA pucks features 44 unlicensed slugs produced in the early 1980s several years after the rebel league merged with the NHL. These attractive pucks have become collectibles despite their unauthorized production. Included here is a Miami Screaming Eagles puck with an early version of the WHA crest on the reverse. The WHA logo with "World Hockey Association" spelled out around it is featured on the reverse of 35 pucks: 3 each of the Blades and Sharks, 2 each of the Oilers, Cougars, Stingers, Crusaders, Mariners, Fighting Saints, Stags, Raiders, Racers, Golden Blades, Jets and Vancouver Blazers, and singles of the Aeros, Spurs and Nationals as well as an unlicensed 2nd WHA All-Star Game puck. Pucks without the league name spelled out on the reverse include 2 each of the Roadrunners and Cowboys, and singles of the Whalers and Philadelphia Blazers, while 3 blank reverse pucks with "World Hockey Association" spelled out around the skating player logo on the face round out the lot.
