An 8" by 10" photo of the Soviet Union's powerful national team, signed by 14, including the legendary Valeri Kharlamov, and a note written on the back by the most revered Russian player, make for a unique and stirring piece, as well as a tantalizing opportunity. Obtained from a Russian woman living in New York City and who got to "hang out" with several of the hockey players when they traveled to the United States, the photo includes the likes of Tretiak, Mikhailov, Vasiliev, Maltsev, Petrov and Kharlamov. The latter's handwriting in Russian on the back of the photo translates to: "Elochka and Carlos, For your memory from the National Team of the USSR. Wishing you health and happiness in life. From the bottom of the heart wishing you good luck in your life. With best wishes, Valeri Kharlamov and Sasha (Alexander) Maltsev." Kharlamov's handwriting and signature is in red ballpoint, while he signed the front, like his teammates, in blue ballpoint. Valeri is standing at the far left of the middle row, with his autograph below, in the lower left corner. Other sigs includes those of Vladimir Myshkin, Sasha Maltsev, Vladimir Petrov, Boris Mikhailov, Vladislav Tretiak & Vasily Pervukhin. Black and white photo has some "specs" throughout, along with a couple of creases in the upper right corner. A serious piece for serious collectors of Russian material.
