Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Very seldom offered in complete set form, these pre-World War II NHL team patches were premiums offered by the St. Lawrence Starch Company through its popular mail-in program which began in 1934. Proofs of purchase from the company's star product, Beehive corn syrup, were mostly sent in, in exchange for photos and other items like these thin cloth "shields" as they were referred to at the time. The eight crests, which include the Montreal Maroons and New York Americans, measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" and are in overall "EX+" condition with all of what would become the Original Six featured, including the Bruins, Red Wings, Black Hawks, Rangers, Maple Leafs and Canadiens. Great chance to pick up a tough pre-war set of premiums.
