Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Great pair of oversized David Bier Studio photos of Montreal Canadiens coaches Toe Blake and Claude Ruel highlight this lot of four, which also includes a pair of Maurice Richard pictures. An eight-time Stanley Cup winner during his 13 years behind the Canadiens' bench, Blake offers a stern look in his Bier photo portrait. "David Bier Photo" is handwritten in black marker in the bottom right corner of his 19 1/2" 15 1/2" print as well as that of Ruel, who coached the Canadiens after Blake retired and led the Habs to a fourth Cup in five years as a rookie in 1968-69. David Bier Studios is stamped on the cardboard backing reverse of both prints. Richard appears in suit and tie and overcoat in the second row of an 8" x 19 1/2" panoramic print of a photo of a 1946 exhibition hockey game. Also included is a 1951 Richard La Patrie 15 1/4" x 10 3/4" premium photo with a horizontal crease through the middle.
