Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The one and only Wayne Gretzky has signed the bare blades of each of his four game-issued Easton aluminum sticks. From the personal collection of Rogatien Vachon, these four vintage Gretzky signed sticks from his days with the Los Angeles Kings were never used and remain in like-new condition. Rogie was the Kings' GM when owner Bruce McNall worked out the mega-deal with Edmonton which brought Wayne to L.A. in August 1988. Included here is a Model 5100 and three HXP 5100 sticks, all in silver and black with wood blade inserts. "Gretzky" is stamped on the top of the wood blade just below where it is glued inside the aluminum shaft. The Great One has signed in bold black marker with his #99 across the face of the bare blade of all four sticks. The original plastic sheaths surrounding the aluminum shafts of the three HXP 5100s to protect them during shipping remain in place and mostly intact, with a few tears on the edges. This superb lot comes with Rogatien Vachon's signed LOA.
