This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The pride of Ste. Anne de Bellevue on the western tip of the island of Montreal, Alfred Pierre "Pit" Lepine was a member of the first Montreal Canadiens teams to win consecutive Stanley Cups in 1930 and 1931. This vintage original artwork of Lepine by renowned Quebec caricaturist Arthur LeMay dates from the late 1920s, possibly early 1930s, and is rendered in pencil and ink on 31 1/8" x 22 1/8" cardboard illustration board. This historic piece of Habs memorabilia exhibits water stains on the right side, a small tear on the upper left corner, and a diagonal crease in the right corner that is all but detached. Despite some surface damage, it remains ready for suitable display, a rare and unique tribute to an early Canadiens scoring star.
