Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
On February 13, 1999, the Toronto Maple Leafs played to a packed house in what would be their final game at Maple Leaf Gardens. In an emotional closing ceremony, dozens of former players from the team's glory years filled the ice to say goodbye to the grand old building and those who had come to watch them. Then, the last team ever to play in the old girl on Church Street faced off against the visiting Chicago Black Hawks. This uniform was worn by Alexander Karpovtsev during the historic game and features the large Memories & Dreams patch up on the right breast. A team set tag in the hem proclaims "Game-Worn 1st Period Final Game, Maple Leaf Gardens". The white tie-neck airknit is made by Nike in size 56 with their tagging in the neck. As expected, this special jersey shows light game use in the form of a few stick marks and a couple of board burns.
