Bernie Parent became a sports hero in the City of Brotherly Love. One local bumper sticker read, "Only the Lord saves more than Bernie Parent." An integral part of the Philadelphia Flyers' Broad Street Bullies, Parent and his teammates won the Stanley Cup twice in a row, in 1974 and 1975. In both seasons, Parent won the Vezina Trophy as best goalie and the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. This incredible find dates to the 1975-76 season according to Flyers game-worn expert Stu Oxenhorn. The neck displays a solitary tag, a small size XL fly tag and Bernie's surname crosses a short name bar high up on the back shoulders above his two-tone number "1". Parent has added a black marker signature across the top of his famous number. The shirt displays a handful of good stick and puck marks on the sleeves and body and has light rust colored stain splatters an dots on the front with more of the same on the lower rear hem. We have style-matched the sweater to a photo showing Parent wearing this style and a digital copy of the image will accompany the lot. Comes complete with a series of authenticating documents including a letter of authenticity from Milt Byron of Byron's Hockeyland and a certificate of registry from the MeiGray Group. Solid!
