Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The image of Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux embracing in celebration of their game winning goal over Russia at the 1987 Canada Cup is one of hockey's most memorable visuals. Glenn Anderson wore this red uniform as a member of Team Canada during the games of the international tournament. He would score two goals and add another assist over seven games. The rubberized white demi-leaf rises up from the waist with two more leaves screened onto the arms. Andy's surname name is sewn onto a plate above the tackle twill "9". Tagged in the neck by Maska Air-knit with CCM embroidered on the lower back hem. Obvious game use with dozens of board burns and a small unrepaired hole and a few material pulls. The rubberized sections show some cracking from wear and washing and the neck tagging is washed out as well. A great example from the series worn by this Hall-of-Fame member and near-500-goal scorer!
