Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Hall-of-Famer Jack Laviolette, the man who was given the task by John Ambrose O'Brien to assemble the very first Montreal Canadiens squad in 1909, is featured on this lovely little dandy from Imperial Tobacco's 1911-12 (C55) issue. The last card in the elusive 45-card set, this example has been graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA and features nice vivid colors. Edge/corner wear is to note, while the back mentions Laviolette's previous Michigan and Montreal Shamrock teams. Captain of the Habs, Laviolette played defence for five seasons, then moved up to form the era's top line with Newsy Lalonde and Didier Pitre, helping les Canadiens of 1915-16 to their first Stanley Cup.
