The Montreal Wanderers were a Stanley Cup dynasty at the outset of the 20th century. The "Red Stripes" claimed the Cup in 1906 and also held it in 1907 and 1908. This fantastic framed original Rice Studios Wanderers photo montage celebrates the team's 1910 Cup win as the fearsome Montreal squad embarked on the 1910-11 NHA season. Wanderers captain Frank Glass, Cecil Blachford, and Hall-of-Famers Ernie Johnson, Jimmy Gardner, Ernie Russell, Riley Hern, Harry Hyland and Jack Marshall are all pictured here in individual portrait photos set around shots of the Stanley Cup and the O'Brien Cup. Hern posted the only shutout in the league's inaugural season in the Wanderers' 5-0 win at Renfrew on February 25, 1910. Russell scored 31 goals in 12 games and Hyland added 20 as Wanderers claimed the league title to take the Stanley Cup away from Ottawa while adding the newly minted O'Brien Cup to their hoard. The Wanderers easily defended a Stanley Cup challenge with a decisive two-game win over Berlin of the Ontario Professional Hockey League. This sensational 14 1/4" x 19 1/4" studio-mounted print is presented on a recessed, two-tone grey matte within a 23" x 28" wood frame. Here is an outstanding opportunity for Stanley Cup hobbyists to add a significant piece of hockey history to their collection.
