Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Intriguing offering here was professionally made using a rare and real 1978-79 WHA Edmonton Oilers white durene Rawlings jersey, nearly identical in every way to what Wayne Gretzky wore in his first professional season. Purchased as a game-worn Jim Neilson uniform directly from the MeiGray Group, this jersey is a real gamer from that year. It has had the original numbers and nameplate removed and replaced with 99's and a GRETZKY name bar. Jersey enthusiasts will note the original reverse crest logo with orange as the base colour and the original Steichens tagging in the neck, exactly where it is in Gretzky's real rookie uniform. Close attention has been paid to ensure that all numbers and lettering match up with Edmonton's 1978-79 game jerseys. This near-perfect replica is as close as you'll find to an authentic Gretzky WHA gamer at a fraction of the price. Will come complete with a package of documentation from the MeiGray Group authenticating that the jersey was an original Jim Neilson uniform before it was converted.
