Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Huge Gordie Howe in-store advertising display sign for Neilson's "Jersey Milk" chocolate bar is a rare find indeed. Howe and his entire family - wife Colleen, sons Marty, Mark and Murray, and daughter Cathy - are all pictured on this massive 56" 1/4" x 32" sign on sturdy cardboard which remains in excellent condition overall, with some minor surface staining to note. The outdoor skating scene features Mr. Hockey in a Detroit Red Wings jacket holding up a Jersey Milk bar alongside his eldest son, who is wearing his own 1963-64 hockey jacket. "For ACTION-ENERGY-PLEASURE, Gordie Howe and his family enjoy Neilson's Jersey Milk" is displayed below the fold in the middle which is 29 3/4" from the top. Both the top and the bottom edge have been trimmed for unknown reasons, though that and a handwritten word on the bottom portion hardly detracts from this magnificent Mr. Hockey ad display.
