Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Absolutely awesome original 8" by 10" photograph shows the then brand new Olympia Sports Arena at the corner of Grand River and McGraw Avenue in Detroit, where the NHL Cougars would play their first game on November 22, 1927. Detroit's Johnny Sheppard had the distinction of scoring the first goal at the Olympia, although the Ottawa Senators rallied to win the game 2-1. Riveting image includes cars and trucks of the day and is stamped "Scraparium OCT 15 1927" on the back! VG photo has light creases/bends and crop lines and should interest numerous historians.
