Those who bleed Maple Leafs blue will be mesmerized by this offering, Borje Salming's rookie-era Toronto Maple Leafs game-worn jersey. Joining the Leafs along with fellow Swede Inge Hammarstrom for the 1973-74 season, Salming immediately made his presence felt in the NHL as he helped pave the way for European players to make the jump to North America. Borje posted 39 points in his rookie season and followed that up with 37 in 1974-75 before going on to record at least 50 points in each of the next seven seasons, including four straight 70-points seasons through the end of the 1970s. From Borje's personal collection, this vintage #21 Maple Leafs jersey is likely from his rookie season, and certainly no later than his sophomore campaign. Rawlings size 50 tagging remains fully intact in the neck of the tie-down collar. Embroidered blue Maple Leafs are sewn onto each shoulder and his #21 is sewn on the back in white twill, with blue twill numbers sewn on each sleeve. Lighter but noticeable wear to report, particularly in the inner pilling exhibited within both sleeves. A couple of stick marks appear on the white Maple Leafs crest sewn on the front of the jersey. To note are a baker's dozen of unexplained tiny holes that dot both shoulders and the front tail of the jersey. This remarkable game used Maple Leafs jersey comes along with Borje Salming's signed letter of authenticity.
