Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010

Three 1970s stars are featured in this great trio of game-used sticks: Ironman Garry Unger, 50-goal scorer Rick Martin and Summit Series defenseman Rod Seiling. “7 Unger G.” is stamped on the front of the Sher-Wood gamer used by the longtime St. Louis Blues center. Unger broke Andy Hebenton’s consecutive games streak late in the 1975-76 season, extending to 914 games the new mark that was eventually broken by Doug Jarvis. Martin scored 44 goals as a rookie and notched 52 goals for a second year in a row in 1974-75 when the Buffalo Sabres reached the Stanley Cup final. He fell one goal short of a third 50-goal campaign the following season. His full name and number are printed towards the bottom of the shaft of his white, blue and orange Canadien gamer from the late 1970s. Seiling, who played in the 1972 NHL All-Star Game, appeared in three games with Team Canada 1972. His Sher-Wood gamer has “16 Seiling” stamped on the shaft. All three fully intact sticks retain their original tape jobs, both on the handle and the blade.
