Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The only player ever to win Stanley Cups with both Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, legendary defenceman Paul Coffey used this sensational Sher-Wood 5030 Feather-Lite wood stick. Coffey broke Bobby Orr’s single-season record for goals by a defenceman with 48 tallies in 1985-86, a mind-boggling mark that should stand for the foreseeable future. Coffey’s factory stamped name has all but worn off the front of the shaft of his 1980s Edmonton Oilers gamer which exhibits excellent battle wear. Lengthy handle features black tape with a small knob on the butt end. Coffey’s original white tape job also remains on the blade, which has cracks along the bottom edge visible where the tape has worn through near the heel.
