Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Mark Messier had a Conn Smythe Trophy to his credit and his first of six Stanley Cups when this CCM game-used stick saw active duty with the Edmonton Oilers during the 1984-85 season. Messier's original tape job on the butt end remains intact with "Messier" stamped on the face of the shaft. A "7 Sep. 1984" factory date stamp appears on the lower part of the back of the shaft. This Messier CCM 1001 Super Fibre gamer was subsequently used for road hockey and its retaped blade is chipped and cracked along the bottom edge with some wood loss. Despite that unfortunately state of affairs, the stick remains a nice display piece from one of hockey's great leaders at the height of his game.
