Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Tantalizing pair of Gordie Howe game-used sticks from Mr. Hockey's days with the New England Whalers in the late-1970s. Both of these Howe Sher-Wood gamers have "9 Howe G." stamped on the front of the shaft and 1978 factory date stamps on the lower part of the back of the shaft. The PMP 5030 has a "21 FEV. 1978" date stamp and retains Gordie's original white tape butt end that is blackened from extensive use. A couple of stands of fragile white tape remain on the blade. Howe's tape job was removed from his other gamer with a "4 JAN. 1978" date stamp which was sent back to Sher-Wood as a pattern stick as evidenced by the "6791" written in black marker on the bottom of the rear of the shaft and the bare blade. Great game on both of these Gordie Howe gamers!
