Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Outstanding collection of 12 Art Ross/Converse NHL game pucks used from 1968 to 1970 features rubberized crests on both sides, with colour team logos on the face and an orange hexagonal Converse CCM logo on the reverse. Three Maple Leafs pucks are featured, including two with rare smaller print reverse logos. The Leafs, Bruins and Rangers crests are all colour - like those introduced by the expansion teams in 1967-68 - while the Red Wings puck has a black on red hexagonal team logo crest. A pair of Blues pucks and individual Oakland Seals, Penguins, Flyers and North Stars pucks are also included, with all pucks in this lot dating from the second and third seasons following the 1967 expansion, distinguished from those used in the first year of expansion by the absence of the Art Ross patent number on the reverse logo. The pucks remain in excellent condition overall, whole and intact, with a bit of rubberized orange nicked off the top on the reverse one of the two Blues pucks to note.
