Massive collection of 103 official game programs covers all five WHA seasons of the ill-fated Indianapolis Racers franchise and includes one with Wayne Gretzky listed in the lineup card from the team’s final season in 1978-79. Featured here is the Racers’ very first regular season game against the Michigan Stags on October 17, 1974, one of 22 programs included from the team’s 1974-75 inaugural season. A total of 42 Racers programs from the 1975-76 season feature artwork on the covers including Pat Stapleton, Jacques Demers, Bobby Hull, Gerry Cheevers, Frank Mahovlich, Dave Keon & J.C. Tremblay along with 2 copies of the program from the home opener against the Denver Spurs featuring a team photo on the cover. Another 24 1976-77 programs include two from an October 3, 1976 preseason game against Quebec. Stapleton, Mahovlich and Racers defenseman Bryon Baltimore have signed covers that once again feature illustrations such as Demers, Hull, Mark Howe, Tremblay, Lacroix, Keon & Ley. Rosaire Paiement has signed within the pages of one of 12 Racers programs from the 1977-78 season and Gary Inness, Claude St. Sauveur (2) and Claude Larose have signed covers. Wayne Gretzky is listed in the Racers lineup in the roster insert for the October 22 game against New England. Three more programs from the Racers’ aborted final campaign include a pair of programs from the team’s game against the Soviet national team on December 16, 1978.
