The Winnipeg Jets were the class of the World Hockey Association during the 1977-78 season as Bobby Hull and his Swedish posse of Anders Hedberg, Ulf Nilsson and rookie Kent Nilsson all posted 100-point seasons. The Jets chalked up an impressive 50 wins and 102 points during the regular season and then won 8 of 9 playoff games, including a four-game sweep of the New England Whalers in the finals to claim the Avco World Trophy. The entire Jets team received gorgeous 10K gold rings for their championship efforts and this size 11 beauty was presented to Norm Defelice, the team's Eastern Canada scout. Defelice clearly wore his championship ring with great pride as it exhibits significant wear, including the solitary diamond set in the face, which is chipped. The gem is set in a gold starburst pattern encircled by "WHA Champions" in now-rounded-and-smoothed raised letters on the upper and lower bezel. The left shank features the Jets logo with "Defelice" engraved on a banner above, while a raised image of the Avco Cup trophy sits between the a "78" in raised gold with "Avco Cup" engraved on a banner above it. This gorgeous and well-worn WHA championship ring is stamped "Josten's 10K" on the inside band and comes with an LOA.
