Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
Only one player can lay claim to the handle "Mr. Hockey". Gordie Howe did it all. Howe retired from the game at the astonishing age of fifty-one after 32 seasons with six Harts, four Stanley Cups, 801 goals and 1,850 points. And that's not including WHA stats! Howe scored his 500th NHL goal on March 14, 1962. His marker found the net behind sprawling Rangers netminder Gump Worsley and the moment is captured in this vintage newspaper file photo matted below the actual ticket stub from the game at Madison Square Garden. Flip the frame over to reveal a pouch that contains the New York Rangers game program from that special night, preserved in very good to excellent condition. Another vintage newspaper file photo just above the stub captures Howe celebrating the achievement in the dressing room after the game. Professionally framed and matted to a finished size of 13" x 22" for a charming display.
