Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
This was just a regular-season game on February 13, 1990, but everyone in the crowd of 15,011 at Nassau Coliseum stood up and applauded for more than two minutes as every Islander player swarmed Bryan Trottier on the ice. The scene occurred 9 minutes and 57 seconds into the second period when the 34-year-old Trottier scored the 500th goal of his National Hockey League career. Trottier's goal, on assists from Gary Nylund and Pat LaFontaine, was his 13th of the season and opened the scoring. A sign that read "Trotts Thanks 500 Times" immediately appeared over Section 218 as the crowd repeatedly chanted "Bry-an! Bry-an!" Offered is the stick wielded by Bryan Trottier to score the milestone 500th marker. Obtained directly from the personal collection of Bryan Trottier offered years ago at auction by Beckett Auctions, the stick is stamped "B. Trottier" on the shaft with a ribbed and gauze-covered knob and full black tape job at the blade. The silver paint pen adornments across the blade tape include a nice Bryan Trottier autograph, complete with player number and the proclamation "500th Goal". What a monster memento! Comes with a letter of authenticity.
