Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/22/2010
The puck used to score the Rocket's 543rd NHL goal (including playoffs) sits atop this towering vintage perpetual trophy, donated by Maurice Richard to the Montreal "Transportation Hockey League" to be awarded to the league's most valuable player. The puck itself is an old double-sided Art Ross Tyer gamer from the period with attached bronze plates engraved with Richard's facsimile signature and "543". Plaques at the base of the trophy list the names of the winners from 1957 through 1963. The trophy does show its age and the golden player at the pinnacle is missing his stick, otherwise in excellent condition. Originally obtained from the collection of the last player to win the award. An amazing find! Comes with a letter of authenticity.
