Charlie Conacher's 1937 dividend accumulation receipt from his life insurance policy with the Manufacturer's Life Insurance Company is one of the intriguing documents found in this lot of original Maple Leaf Gardens financial records. Detailed team expense sheets with individual records on the Maple Leafs' players for the 1937-38 season are also featured in a binder dated from April 1, 1937 to October 31, 1938, along with another expense report for the 1938 playoffs when, for the fourth time in six seasons, Toronto made it to the final only to lose, this time to Chicago. Frank Selke signed 17 documents and Foster Hewitt's signature appears on another 11 documents. Red Horner signed a receipt in pencil. Conn Smythe hand-wrote "Yes" on a memo addressed to him. He also initialed an expense report. William Hewitt initialed two documents. "The British Treasury Cabinet Binding Case No 12" binder has "No. 6, Maple Leaf Gardens Ltd" and "Journal Vouchers #1230-1557" written on its Grand & Toy label and is housed in its original 1/4" x 12 1/2" x 3 1/2" sleeve.
