The J. P. Bickell Memorial Award, named after the late Toronto businessman and hockey executive J. P. Bickell, was presented at the discretion of the directors to a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization who performed with a very high standard of excellence over a single season on the ice as a player or within the executive office. Teeder was named winner in 1953 and once again in 1955. The collection of related memorabilia includes a heavy 5" x 13" brass plate that once graced the base of the actual master trophy, listing Kennedy's two wins along with those of John Bower, Geroge Armstrong, Tod Sloan and Harry Lumley. A letter signed by Hall-of-Fame journalist Andy O'Brien on Weekend Magazine letterhead congratuates Kennedy on his selection as winner of the award. Also included is a photograph of Kennedy listing him as the winner in 1952-53 and 1954-55, measuring to a finished size of about 7.5" x 10" in a vintage wood frame under glass. Lastly, although unrelated, the lot includes Kennedy's invitation card to the 1945 Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup victory dinner. Condition varies across the lot but everything is in very good condition at least. Obtained from the family of former Leafs' captain Ted Kennedy, complete with their signed letter of provenance.
