Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Matched set of Vic McMartin goalie leg pads and gloves worn by netminder Kelly Hrudey while with the Los Angeles Kings circa-early to mid Nineties. Hrudey, currently a broadcaster with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, saw action in over 600 NHL regular season games with another 85 post-season tilts to mention. The unique set of pads, in the black, white and grey scheme of the Kings, features a diminutive pair of Vic Lexxus Air leg protectors which seem way too small for an adult. But photographic evidence and style matching proves that this short set was the size and style that Kelly preferred. The matching blocker, adorned with star graphics, is full adult size, as is the Vic Cobra catcher. The pads and blocker show signs of use with a number of black stick and puck marks but the catching glove is in newer condition. This set was probably one of the first sent to Hrudey as later gloves and pads in this style were embroidered with his name.
