Superb Team USA wool sweater with a red twill alternate captain's "A" was worn by Len Lilyholm as the American team won the 1970 B pool World Championships tournament in Bucharest. The U.S. redeemed itself in Romania one year after it was relegated from the A pool after losing each of its 10 games at the 1969 tournament, including a humiliating 17-2 loss to the Soviet Union. The 1970 American lineup included Henry Boucha, Mike Curran, Jim McElmury, Charlie Brown and Keith Christiansen, who would all go on to win silver at the 1972 Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo. Gerry Cosby size 46 tag remains sewn in the back of the neck of this exquisite tie-neck wool creation. Stains on right side of upper back and spots to the left of the #9 sewn on the back may be dried blood. Game use is apparent in a slash mark with paint transfer at the bottom of the red-white-and-blue twill "U" in the "USA" sewn on the front and a couple of stick marks on the front tail. This outstanding U.S.A. international hockey sweater comes with an LOA signed by longtime USA Hockey physician Dr. V. George Nagobads.
