Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Stylish and substantial 1991 Canada Cup trophy comes from Borje Salming's personal collection. Salming had already retired from the NHL when he returned to North America to represent his native Sweden, which dropped three of its first four games. A win over Czechoslovakia in Toronto qualified the Swedes for the playoff round, but Maple Leaf Gardens yielded no further good fortune in a 4-0 semi-final loss to Canada. Salming's 1991 Canada Cup tournament trophy stands just under 10 inches tall overall. The tournament's logo is depicted as a three-dimensional chromed half maple leaf on a solid painted bronze "puck" base. This gorgeous personal Canada Cup trophy remains in excellent-plus condition and comes along with Borje Salming's signed LOA.
