Even though this King Clancy rookie card may have received an overall grade of good from Sporstcard Guaranty, it remains one of the most highly-sought hockey cards from the early days of the hobby. A tremendous competitor, Francis "King" Clancy's lifelong association with the game and consistent effort and rapport with the fans lasted throughout his career as a player, referee, coach, and executive. Clancy's rookie card is number 3 in the classic blank-backed 1923-24 William Patterson V145-1 set. The example offered here exhibits rounded edges and a dark mark on the left side of the card at the level of Clancy's mouth. There is also a small bit of yellowish soiling in the bottom right corner of the face that is a little more extensive on the blank reverse. With those flaws noted, this Clancy rookie card remains in very nice condition overall. This may be the perfect opportunity to add this rare treasure to your collection.
