Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Long-time pro netminder George Gardner made the jump to the "bigs" along with the club when his Western Hockey League Vancouver Canucks entered the NHL in 1970-71. This simple fiberglass mask, made in the style of those famous Lefty Wilson creations, was worn, according to Gardner himself, when he played with the WHL Canucks in 1968-69 and 1969-70. Nice game wear on this one with some of the interior padding intact and the original canvas straps and buckles. Signed across the forehead by Gardner in bold black Sharpie marker ink. Originally from George Gardner's personal collection and comes with a snapshot photograph of George holding the mask.
