Beautiful bronze medal, awarded to defenceman Frantisek Prochazka, a member of the Czechoslovakian National Men's Hockey Team, third place finishers at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games held in Albertville, France. Although the Czechs had a strong showing in the first round, matching the 4-1 records posted by the Unified Team and Team Canada, they fell short in the medal round with gold going to the Unified squad and Canada taking silver. Scarce example of an athlete presentation medal, these awards seldom show up in the hobby and we are extremely excited to be able to include it in our offering. The medal itself is fashioned with a crystal center, swallowed by solid bronze, and weighing in at 169 grams. The dimensions are calculated at 92 mm in diameter with a thickness of 9 mm. A very substantial award to say the least! It hangs from an attractive multi-colored ribbon with shimmering silver weave and is housed in the original presentation box (in good condition only) marked Albertville 1992 in two places. Engraving on the medal includes the official logo of the 1992 Games within a branch with Albertville 1991 and XVI Olympic Winter Games carved in French and English. A rare find, this treasure will most certainly bring great interest and strong bidding. Will come with a letter of authenticity.
