The 2009 Montreal Centennial Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2009
An image of Montreal Canadiens icon Howie Morenz, hockeys greatest player of the era, graces the cover of this desirable1932-33 National Hockey Guide and Record Book, the first published by Jim Hendy, hockeys first great statistician. The so-called Hendy Guides are an absolute prerequisite to an important vintage hockey publication library, with this example in wonderful EX-EX+ condition, showing only light handling and wear. Included in the information-packed 140-page guide are team photos of all 1931-32 NHL teams, along with team photos of some of hockeys premier squads from previous seasons. As well, pictures and profiles of Cyclone Taylor and Howie Morenz rate the legends as two of the most spectacular and greatest forwards in the history of hockey. Hendy also writes there are and were many other great performers who were practically on a par with Morenz and Taylor, yet lacked the magnetic appeal of these two. The magnetic appeal of this formidable little guide (3-1/2 x 5-1/2) should now be inciting you to bid!
