The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
The 1941-42 Toronto Maple Leafs made professional sports history when they overcame a 3-0 deficit with four straight wins over the Detroit Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup. The Maple Leafs hadn’t won the Cup since 1932 and seemed destined to lose in the finals for the seventh time in 10 years before they roared back for their historic win. This majestic photo display featuring individual autographs from Hank Goldup, Gaye Stewart, Pete Langelle, Bob Davidson and Wally Staniowski is presented in a 27 ½” square frame and a “skate marks on ice” silver matte with a two-tone blue accent. A team photo of the 1941-42 Maple Leafs dominates the display, which also features a dressing room photo of Chamberlain, Taylor, Carr, Drillon and Schreiner with a silver caption plaque, and another silver plaque on the left of the frame with a nice description of the 1941-42 NHL regular season and playoffs.
