The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Members of the 1939-40 New York Rangers would probably have been surprised to learn that the franchise would go another 54 years before repeating their Stanley Cup win. The Rangers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games to win the team’s third Cup, the last by the Blueshirts until 1993-94. This fantastic photo and autograph display is presented in a 20 ½” x 32” wood frame with “Skate marks on ice” silver matte and red and blue accents. A stylish team photo montage dominates the presentation with a photo of NHL president Frank Calder presenting the Cup to Rangers captain Art Coulter beneath it, along with a small copy of the cover of a vintage Madison Square Garden program. Individual autographs from Dutch Hiller, Coulter and Clint Smith follow below, with a silver plaque that lists the result of the final at the bottom.
