Playoff hero Frank McCool has signed in pencil the cover of this remarkable team autographed Maple Leaf Gardens program from the fourth game of the 1945 Stanley Cup final. The Calder Trophy winner recorded four playoff shutouts, including a record three in a row in the final to stake the Leafs to a 3-0 series lead over Detroit. Ted Kennedy, the team's 18-year-old leading scorer, has also signed in pencil within the circular photo of Elwyn Morris on the cover, as have Morris, Art Jackson, Pete Backor, Nick Metz and Lorne Carr. Bob Davidson, Happy Day and Gus Bodnar have signed in blue ink while Tom O'Neill began signing his name in blue ink, and finished by signing his last name in black ink. Ross Johnstone has signed in black ink. A total of 14 original autographs appear on the cover, including Don Metz's pencil signature above the "Maple Leaf Gardens" sign on the upper right corner. The centerfold features the lineups for the game at Maple Leaf Gardens on Thursday, April 14, and features Red Wings forward Joe Carveth's total of three goals and five assists to that point in the playoffs despite McCool's three straight shutouts to open the final.
