According to our consigner, the manager of the Hot Stove Lounge in Maple Leaf Gardens, this was the stick Wayne Gretzky used to score the game and series winning goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs and send the Kings to the Finals. The game, the seventh of the series, played on May 29th, 1993 was a stunner for fans in Toronto and Wayne Gretzky has been quoted as saying that his performance in the game was the best of his career. Easton Aluminum 5100 model marked “Gretzky” with an Easton wood blade with wine graphics only on the one side. The blade, also stamped “Gretzky”, is wrapped in Wayne’s distinctive style and taped in bulldog and features a bold black autograph from the Great One. The black foam “Gripper” is there instead of a taped knob and the butt end has been coded by Kings trainer Peter Miller, “P93”, with a line and a number below that appears to be a “43”. Wayne and his Kings fought a battle with Toronto in the ’93 post-season and came out on top, going on to the Finals against the Montreal Canadiens who would defeat them to capture the Cup. Better than average use for a Gretzky gamer from this period. A perfect example! An historic stick. Will come with a detailed letter of authenticity and provenance from the consigner.
