Ancient medal presented to a member of the United States squad following the 1939 World Ice Hockey Championships held in Zurich and Basle, Switzerland. The Americans finished second to Canada in 1939, a repeat of their earlier performances in 1924, 1931, 1932 and 1934. The stylistic art deco medal measures approx. two inches in diameter and features a carved image of a netminder on the front with the logo of the International Ice Hockey Federation (in French) on the reverse ringed by the words “Championnat du Monde” with the year engraved. In excellent condition with toning and patina.
