The Jacques Laperriere Auction - Fall 2008
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2008
Longtime Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman wore these Easton Air skates during the latter stages of his Hall of Fame career in Motown. Yzerman became the Red Wings’ captain in 1986-87 at the age of 21, a position he held until he retired in the summer of 2006. Stevie Y hoisted the Stanley Cup three times as the Red Wings won consecutive championships in 1997 and 1998, and another title in 2002. The tongues of both of the captain’s skates are laden with red and white fuzz from the Red Wings’ familiar team colors. “Yzerman” stickers have been placed on the base of both skate boots, under the original Tuuk blades. The front of both boots have immaculate shiny black team repairs for the scuffs. These outstanding collectors’ items would make a welcome addition to any Yzerman/Red Wings/Hall-of-Famer collection.
